Bottle for alcohol from Viktor Leiber's factory
This bottle sold alcohol under the name “Imbierowa,” produced in Oświęcim by Wiktor Leibler’s company. Wiktor and Anna Leibler lived in nearby Brzezinka, but their professional life was connected with Oświęcim, where they ran the famous Hotel Herz on the Main Square (Rynek Główny 11). For many years, the hotel was the center of political and cultural life, in which Jewish and Christian Oświęcim residents participated. Among the guests of the hotel was Jozef Pilsudski, who stayed there with a group of legionnaires in 1915. Wiktor Owadja Leibler (1869-1929) was a city councilman, Zionist activist, member and founder of the Zion Association (1903), and active member of the Red Cross. It was his initiative, among others, to establish a middle school in Oświęcim, later named after Father Stanisław Konarski.
