The Shabbat challah napkin was prepared for the Kolel Chibat Yerushalaym charity organization (founded in 1830), which supported emigrants from Galicia who settled in Palestine and studied Torah there. In Jewish homes in Oświęcim, there were also special boxes in which money was collected for this purpose. The napkin was found in the early 1990s in Oświęcim, in one of the buildings on Berka Joselewicza street.
