Membership card of the Association of Jewish Religious Workers Machsike Limud in Oświęcim
This is an unfilled membership card from the Machsike Limud (Hebrew for strengthening faith) Association of Jewish Religious Workers in Oświęcim. The boxes on the document were written in Yiddish. The organization was founded in Oświęcim in 1913, and one of its branches, which also operated in other towns, was established there. The activities of the association were aimed at Orthodox workers. The goal of the Machsike Limud was to strengthen religious attitudes in this community, and its means was to deepen religious knowledge and study of the Torah and Talmud. The association organized courses, lectures and lessons for its members. Most probably, it was an offshoot of the largest Orthodox Jewish party in Poland, Agudat Israel (Hebrew: Union of Israel).
