New Year's greetings card
Card with wishes and blessings for Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew: New Year) and Yom Kippur (Hebrew: Day of Atonement), signed by Mordechai Neumark and his wife. The card was sent from Oświęcim in the Jewish year of 5690, or 1929 in the Gregorian calendar. Mordechai Neumark ran a paint store in Oświęcim at 1 Kościelna Street. The document was found in the Jewish Museum building at 5 Jana Skarbka Square. The card bears the text in Hebrew: “With God’s help, evening of Rosh ha-Shanah, 1929, Blessing for a good year. May you be written in the Book of Life for the New Year and sealed on Yom Kippur. From Mordechai Neumark and his wife, Oświęcim.” In 1929, Rosh Hashanah evening fell on October 4, and Yom Kippur evening fell on October 13, 1929.
