Radio from Szymon Kluger's house in Oświęcim
The object is a table-top, three-band radio manufactured by Philips. The radio is comprised of a of a plastic base of which the front is laminated in a cherry-colored faux-wood covering around the outside portion of the front and top of the radio. This framing slopes up the front of the radio and creates a curved, rounded top that ends as it reaches the back of the radio. The front of the radio, while lined in faux-wooden casing, contains both an cream and gray tweed-like cloth covered speaker and a radio tuning system above the speaker that are both surrounded by the faux-wood “framing”. Three knobs made of off-white plastic can be tuned to where a clear-plastic display above the speaker lists major cities and radio stations and where their frequencies can be achieved. The back of the radio is covered in a black plastic and contains directions for using the radio printed directly onto the plastic in German. The Philips logo can be found attached to the cloth-covered speaker and features a circle that is crossed in the middle by three waved lines. Above the lines and to the left are one large and one small star and the same motif can be found below the lines and to the left.
